Samwah is a bilingual singer and rapper from Costa Rica making dance music with something on its mind.
Samwah is a bilingual singer and rapper from Costa Rica, writing in Spanish and English and refusing to choose between them. The music lands where Kesha's dancefloor meets Melanie Martinez's storytelling — euphoric and playful on the surface, with something real underneath. Music has been on constantly since childhood, and a knack for rhyme and rhythm arrived long before the tools to build anything with it; that gap is closing now.
The name comes from "wah," one of the oldest English names for the red panda, recorded as far back as 1861 and taken from the animal's own call.
